Our Board

Norine Baron, Chair

Norine has been a part of the BVO family from the very beginning. Over the last 25 years she has assumed a number of different positions on the Board and participated in virtually every service and/or event that BVO offers. From August 2006 to August 2007, Norine acted as a temporary Executive Director to cover some of Carolyn's responsibilites whilst Carolyn was away. In September, Norine returned to the Board and will assume the role of Chair.

Pat Hartlen, Director

Pat has been a volunteer for most of her adult life.  She has served on the PTA at her children's schools; and on the Executives of the Western Ontario Division of the Canadian Canoe Association, and the Atlantic Terrier Association.  Shortly after moving to TBM in 2006, she joined the volunteers at BVO and has worked in the Treasure Shop; helped with the Good Food Boxes and Christmas Hampers programs;and worked with the Silent Auction.  Pat served on the BVO Board from 2009-2011, and after taking a year off to pursue another interest, returned to the Board in June 2012.  She and her husband Ron love living in The Town of Blue Mountains and are involved in a variety of activities.

Catherine Innes

Cathy began her volunteering with BVO as a sorter in the Treasure Shop, then joined the Board in 2004. She sits on the Policy Committee, Treasure Shop Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee.  Tai Chi, the Library Board, sailing, reading and directing plays for the Thornbury Community Theater keep her busy the rest of the time.  We are very grateful for Cathy's commitment to BVO!

Marty Lacey, Treasurer

Marty has been with the BVO Board for since 1999. She is not only our Secretary/ Treasurer, but she ensures we have adequate storage in the Treasure Shop when donations overwhelm our space! She has been known to defrost our freezer and wax our floors when she is not busy balancing our books! Marty was named Town of the Blue Mountains volunteer of the year in 2003.

Karen Newton-Stewart, Vice Chair

Karen joined the BVO Board in 2005. Her first task was to organize and manage the 2005 Annual Silent Auction - it was a great success. She also sits on the Communications Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Her knowledge of marketing and advertising are a great benefit to BVO.

Marlene Yen, Board of Directors

Marlene Yen has been volunteering at BVO for nine years! Currently Marlene is Vice-Chair of BVO Board of Directors.  She has devoted the last two years as chair of the very busy Silent Auction Committee.   Marlene is warm, gentle and generous beyond the call! As a former school administrator, she brings invaluable experience to her work with the Board of Directors.  We are so fortunate to have this generous, giving woman "on Board" at BVO.

Stella Zahradnik, Director

Stella has been coming to the Beaver Valley for over 40 years, and has lived here full time with her husband Peter for 8 years.

Stella is an avid skier, golfer, biker, walker, world traveller and an energetic volunteer. As a member of the Board of Management at Beaver Valley Probus Club, as secretary-treasurer of the Beaver Valley Fall Fair, the Beaver Valley Open Door Refugee Committee and most recently, as a member of the Board of Directors at BVO, she contributes greatly to the life of our community. Her first involvement at BVO was as a member of the Youth Coalition in the Meaford/ Thornbury/Clarksburg area. Stella says she enjoys working alongside BVO volunteers and is impressed with the multitude of programs developed by BVO, especially the Breakfast Club, Lunch Program and Kids Club at Beaver Valley Community  School.

Code of Ethics

All BVO staff members are expected to meet and follow the following standards of conduct:

  • I shall fulfill my obligations and responsibilities with integrity.
  • I shall protect the privacy of those who use the services of BVO and hold in confidence all acquired information concerning clients, staff, board members, donors and volunteers.
  • I shall serve clients in a friendly, respectful, conscientious and efficient manner.
  • I shall treat other BVO staff, volunteers and board members with respect and work co-operatively with them.
  • I shall treat Beaver Valley Outreach, its services and programs with dignity and respect and conduct myself in a manner conducive to the well-being of the organization.

Oath of Confidentiality

All BVO staff members are expected to take an oath of confidentiality.

  • I will not engage in discussion of situations or cases within or outside of BVO except on a need to know basis as is required for the appropriate conduct of Beaver Valley Outreach.
  • I undertake, as part of the condition of my employment, to keep in strict confidence any information concerning participants of BVO programs and services or any persons who donate to BVO.

Sharon Baker, Assistant - Kids Club

Sharon has been with BVO since 2002 and assists in our before and after school program called Kids Club. Sharon's experience with children make her an easy fit for this program. Sharon continues to update her skills with relevant workshops.

Bonnie Finn, Administrative Assistant

Bonnie has been BVO's Administrative Assistant since 2010.  She has lived in the Town of Blue Mountains since 1998 and has enjoyed raising her family here. Bonnie loves her work at BVO and all the many different opportunities that come her way on a daily basis and she is proud to work for an organization who strive to make good things happen in our community.

Carol Fox, Kids Club Onsite Supervisor and Ontario Early Years Coordinator

Carol Fox is our Ontario Early Years Facilitator, as well as Kids Club on site Program Supervisor. Carol has been employed with BVO since 2011 and we are happy to have her fresh ideas as she is a recent graduate from Georgian College Early Childhood Education Program. She is the proud mother of three wonderful children and 5 amazing grandchildren!

Sherrie Lee, Coordinator for Good Food Box and Co-Supervisor of BVO Preschool & Summer Fun Daycamp Supervisor

Sherrie joined our Crayon Box Nursery School and Kids Club in 2005 and effective Sept 2011 became our Co-supervisor at BVO Preschool. Sherrie brings to BVO the skills AND benefits of over 20 years working in early childhood education. Sherrie is also the contact person for Good Food Box. Lastly, Sherrie successfully coordinated our 2006 Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner where over 700 meals were served or delivered! She is a wonderful energy at BVO!

Carolyn Letourneau, Executive Director

Carolyn has been with BVO since 2003. She is the point person for all of our emergency services and she oversees all of our children's programs, many of our services and several BVO annual events. Carolyn works closely with our Board of Directors and staff to ensure effective communication and operation of our growing organization.

Jennifer Miller, Co-Supervisor BVO Preschool

Jennifer has been with BVO since 2000. She is the Co-supervisor at BVO Preschool.  Her skills with children make her a very warm and wonderful early childhood educator! Jen continues to update her skills by attending relevant child care workshops.

Ann Rogers, Toddler Teacher at BVO Preschool

Ann is a toddler room teacher at BVO Preschool.  She is an experienced Early Childhood Educator who brings warmth and songs everyday to this group of young children.  Ann is the proud mother of two teenage daughters.

Helen Russell, Preschool Lunch Program Coordinator


Helen joined BVO as a volunteer in 2009 working in the school lunch club program and in September 2011 she became the cook at BVO Preschool.  She brings over 10 years creative culinary experience to our program which we know the kids will enjoy!  Running her own food business for the last 5 years, Helen knows all about using fresh, local, preservative free ingredients in her cooking!  She also appreciates all feedback and new ideas on recipes to help maintain good health for our children.  Contact:  519- 599-2190

Carol Townson, BVO Preschool Teacher

Carol is a BVO preschool room teacher.  She brings a wide variety of talent and skills as an experienced Early Childhood Educator.  When at home, she is the mother of a very busy toddler!
