Posted: 07/04/18The Blue Mountains, April 5, 2018 – Beaver Valley Outreach has launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the renovations of its new home at 54 King Street in Thornbury. The Board has set a goal of $500,000 for BVO’s Heart of Our Community capital campaign.
BVO’s current old Fire Hall location on Bruce Street has served it well as a base of operations for the past 17 years. However, the limitations and layout issues of the location have become increasingly challenging, preventing BVO the organization from enhancing and expanding its services to meet the needs of a growing community. And so, in 2017, BVO’s Board of Directors decided that it was time to open a new chapter in BVO’s history.
Renovations to BVO’s King Street home are moving along. The Shertine Construction crew is “going down to the studs” to redesign the facility specifically tailored to BVO’s unique needs. The project will:
BVO’s goal is to move into its new home by the end of May, 2018. A Committee has been formed to plan and executive the move. To help reach this target, BVO has contracted Fundraising Managers Jarvis Strong and Jane Truemner to lead the way. Between them, Jarvis and Jane have over 30 years of fundraising experience, including local experience and relationships.
“While the funds raised will pay for “bricks and mortar” capital costs, the key thing to remember is that this is about investing in BVO, so that we are stronger and can ultimately improve our impact in our ever-growing community through our programs and services,” says Fundraising Manager Jarvis Strong. “Many BVO friends are loyal volunteers. There are many ways that you can help, but the support we need most right now is a financial donation to make this dream a reality. Please consider a meaningful personal donation - to our campaign, to BVO and to everyone in our community who will benefit from the enhancements that our new home will provide.”
Strong suggests a “Do It Yourself” third party fundraiser as a great way to raise money while elevating the profile of BVO in the community. “We have always been fortunate to have many of these events in our name every year. This year, we hope that this tradition will continue, as now is when we need the support the most,” he says. “Please give with your heart and remember - BVO will always be there for everyone in our community if we take care of BVO. Every dollar helps, so thank you for your consideration in helping us make good things even better!”
BVO will also be hosting a special dinner event at Lora Bay on Saturday October 27th. please contact Jarvis if you would like details or want to support in any way.
Donations can be dropped off at the Treasure Shop or our BVO office. Online gifts can be made directly at www.bvo.ca/donate. If you would like to make a meaningful personal gift but need to spread it over a few years, please contact Jarvis Strong about a multi-year pledge or monthly giving.
